Borshoboron 1432 – Welcoming the Bengali New Year with Culture, Colour, and Community
Bangla Art Centre Victoria (BACV) celebrated Borshoboron 1432 on 26 April 2025, marking the Bengali New Year with a joyful blend of tradition, artistry, and community spirit. The event brought together families and friends from across Victoria to welcome the new year with hope, togetherness, and cultural pride.
This year’s celebration placed a strong emphasis on cultural expression, showcasing the depth and diversity of Bengali heritage through music, dance, poetry, and visual arts. The venue came alive with vibrant colours, traditional motifs, and the unmistakable energy of a community united in celebration.
A major highlight of Borshoboron 1432 was the cultural show featuring performances by numerous groups from across Victoria. Each group brought its own flavour and creativity to the stage—classical and folk dances, choral pieces, recitations, and contemporary cultural presentations. Their collective effort created a rich tapestry of artistic expression that reflected both tradition and the evolving identity of the Bengali diaspora.
This year’s Bangla New Year 1432 Celebration was made all the more special by the gracious presence of several distinguished guests. The Most Honorable Jim Memeti, Mayor of Greater Dandenong. Eden Foster MP, Member of Parliament (Mulgrave). Jason Wood MP, Shadow Minister (Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs). Gabrielle Williams MP, Minister (Government Services). Julian Hill MP, Assistant Minister (Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs).
The enthusiasm and dedication of the performers made the evening truly memorable, reminding us how cultural celebrations strengthen community bonds and keep our heritage thriving for future generations.
Borshoboron 1432 was not just a new year celebration; it was a vibrant affirmation of who we are as a community—rooted in culture, connected through art, and inspired by the promise of a new beginning.
